Slander is defamation of character by spoken word. As in, not by publishing in a written medium, like in a newspaper or, you know, ON A WEB SITE.

I highly doubt the majority of people know/care about that.
But way to sound SO SMART LIKE OMFG.
I think many people know the difference, actually, and am kind of surprised a 'grammar elitist' wouldn't. And those who don't, you are right, would not have cared. They probably also wouldn't care that I posted about it, since they wouldn't have any idea what I was talking about. Sorry to offend, though.
